Is Westboro a good place to live in Ottawa?

Short answer

Westboro is a west-end Ottawa neighbourhood built around Richmond Road, its main street of shops, cafés and restaurants. From the neighbourhood centre, an elementary school (Churchill Alternative) is about a 3-minute walk, two grocery stores are 8 to 10 minutes away, and the Ottawa River and Westboro Beach are about 0.7 km north.

As of · Updated

Whether it suits you depends on what you need, so here are the facts. In the 2021 census the Ottawa Neighbourhood Study's 'Westboro' area (which also includes Westboro Beach) had 12,280 residents, a median age of 42.8, and 53.6% of households renting. 42.3% of its dwellings were apartments in buildings of five or more storeys and 21.9% were single-detached houses.

Westboro station and Kichi Zìbì station are being rebuilt for the O-Train Line 1 west extension; the Kichi Zìbì site is about a 9-minute walk from the centre. Walking times are westboro.homes estimates from OSRM's foot profile on OpenStreetMap streets and paths (about 5 km/h, no waits at crossings), measured from the neighbourhood centre.

Keep in mind. O-Train opening dates are provisional: OC Transpo expected passenger service in Q3 2027 (March 2026), and Canada Day 2026 flooding may mean a staged opening.
