What is the history of Westboro, Ottawa?
Westboro grew up along Richmond Road, once the Macadam Road to Bells Corners, as a farming and mill area in Nepean Township. It became a police village in 1903 and was annexed by the City of Ottawa in 1949.
As of · Updated
An Ottawa Electric Railway streetcar line, now the Byron Linear Tramway Park, brought city residents to what was then cottage country. After annexation, Main Street was renamed Churchill Avenue and River Road became Roosevelt Avenue because Ottawa already had streets with those names.
Keep in mind. The Highland Park Ratepayers Association's history gives June 10, 1905 for incorporation and 1950 for annexation.
